I hired Under the Sun Solar and Electric to upgrade my subpanel per the new California code. It was a quick and easy process. They were very easy to communicate with throughout, from the scheduling the install, passing inspection, to the documentation they could provide so that I could send it off to my HOA. The install was very quick and neat, and they made sure to leave everything spotless after themselves.

I'd highly recommend Under The Sun for your solar needs. I recently had 10 additional panels added to boost the production of my existing system. Mark and Paul were very responsive and easy to work with. They also worked with me to ensure a clean installation making sure no ugly conduit was exposed and completed the entire install process in a single day. It’s rare to find contractors that are this professional and prompt.

Electrical Work We Handle on Lincoln, CA Homes

A Lincoln panel with no open breaker spaces tends to become a problem the week an EV comes home, or when you want a battery added to solar you already own. We open the panel and run a load calculation before quoting a panel upgrade. Sometimes a load-managed charger or a subpanel is enough. Near downtown the trouble is different: older wiring and circuits added onto over the years. Under the Sun Solar & Electric is a C-10 shop based in Citrus Heights, CSLB #1141678.

    Call or text 916-899-3062 or request a free estimate. Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-6:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM-4:00 PM.

    What Lincoln homes usually need

    Sun City Lincoln Hills

Del Webb opened Sun City Lincoln Hills for sales in 1999, and the 55+ community now has more than 6,700 homes. Requests there are practical. Brighter kitchen and hallway lighting, lighted switches, outlets moved to an easier height, a dedicated garage outlet for a golf cart, and battery backup that keeps a refrigerator or medical equipment running in an outage. Exterior changes such as a new disconnect or conduit on a front wall may need community association approval first, and we can write up the electrical details for that request.

    Twelve Bridges and Lincoln Crossing

Both are master-planned neighborhoods, and their homes are far newer than downtown’s. Per the U.S. Census, Lincoln grew from about 11,000 residents in 2000 to almost 43,000 in 2010, so much of the city’s housing dates from that decade. That generation of house usually has enough service for everyday use. Add a Level 2 charger, a hot tub, or a garage shop, though, and a builder panel can run out of room. Our post on whether an EV charger needs a panel upgrade walks through the load math we use. A load-managed charger often avoids a service upgrade entirely.

Adding a battery to existing solar

If your Lincoln home already has solar, a battery is the usual next step. PG&E approves the interconnection. Before quoting home battery installation, we check whether the main panel and the solar breaker leave room for it, and how much of the house you want backed up. Income-qualified households should read our SGIP battery rebate guide before choosing equipment.

    Downtown Lincoln

Lincoln incorporated in 1890, and the blocks around downtown predate the growth years by decades. This is where you find undersized services, two-prong outlets, and circuits that were added onto over the years. We test first and tell you whether a repair or an upgrade makes more sense.

    Permits and PG&E in Lincoln

The City of Lincoln requires a permit for all electrical work. The city’s website lists panel changeouts by a licensed electrician, along with solar, energy storage, and EV chargers, as minor permits that can be submitted online. Bigger jobs go to the building counter. Addresses outside city limits permit through Placer County. PG&E schedules the disconnect and reconnect for any service change, so we ask for that date as soon as the permit is issued.

    Booking a Lincoln visit

Call or send the form with what is going on and which neighborhood you are in. We book weekdays 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays 9 AM to 4 PM. The service areas page lists everywhere else we work.

Yes. Downtown houses are much older than the Twelve Bridges and Lincoln Crossing tracts, and that is where undersized services and patched-together circuits turn up. We test before we quote. Call 916-899-3062.

PG&E. Lincoln is outside SMUD territory, and Roseville Electric serves only the City of Roseville. PG&E handles meter work, service disconnects, and solar interconnection here.

Yes. The City of Lincoln requires a permit for all electrical work, including panel changeouts, new circuits, EV chargers, and solar. Addresses outside city limits go through Placer County. We apply for the permit and schedule the inspection.

Yes. A golf cart charger typically plugs into a dedicated 120-volt outlet, while a Level 2 EV charger needs a 240-volt circuit. We check panel space and load before quoting either one.

Usually, but it depends on the inverter, the main panel, and how much of the house you want covered. We look at the existing solar equipment and the PG&E interconnection paperwork before recommending a battery size.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Closed Sunday. Call or text 916-899-3062.
